That was a close one....

Like I said, it didn't get the best of me. I finished Ovid's Metemorpheses. a bit ago. I'm just really bad at keeping up with a blog. Good thing no one reads it! Metemorpheses was actually really amazing. I'm a mythology geek so it was right up my alley. I will be honest, it's been a while since I have used my brain to such an extent. I'm embarrassed to say I had to look a few words up. But alas dear Ovid, I bid you adieu. Since I last blogged, I have read several other books. However, I can only check off Euphues: The Anatomy of Wit by John Lyly off my list. The other books that I have read, are not on my list. Tomorrow, I start the Pilgrams Progress...wish me luck!

Book # 1 - Aesop's Fables by Aesopus

This was a quick read. I read it in high school and it's just how I remember...boring. I don't know if that gets me a ticket straight to hell to call a classic boring, but call me Honest Abe. I think reading it as a child would be better than reading it as an adult. Aesopus (for his time) was brilliant and a creative writer. I am sure he made time in ancient Greece fly by. He was also very wise, like my grandma. I believe that most of the fables can still be used as moral teachings to childern. There are several "and the moral of the story is..." shorts that still hold true. Not to mention, several classic idioms that we still us to this day. I will say that even though I find it boring, it's still a classic. It has survived over time. It deserves to be respected and it deserves to be read! So read it!!!

Ok now....bring on The Metamorphoses by Ovid....

Ready, Set, Go!

So I'm not sure how this is going to go. I officially started on January 9, 2010. I don't know if I'm only going to blog when I get done with a book, or if I'll blog while I'm reading...I'm not quite sure yet. All I know is I have a list that has 1001 books on it and I want to read them all. I know some books will go fast, other will go really, really, really slow. But none the less, I'm all in. So I guess I'll get right to it.

P.S. You can find the list at: http://www.listology.com/list/1001-books-you-must-read-you-die I'm starting with the pre-1700 and heading to the 2000's. You should join me!
